First Night/Day – Woodson Bridge

First backup experience – so far so good.

Exciting semi sleepless night – and it appears we drained our batteries. Woke up to birds singing and thought what a beautiful morning even though its 5:30! So after reaching for the light and finding it didn’t turn on a swift walk to the restroom was decided and back to bed we went. At that moment we both had the same idea -connect the truck, then make coffee and then connect the hitch(we had disconnected to go to the store to buy beer). We fell back to sleep and woke up 2 hours later -wow! We connected the power to the truck, made coffee and relaxed. After breakfast and more coffee we explored the campground and went on a hike – nice 1 mile loop.
John had to try out the shower – loved it – small size but adequate with plenty of pressure. Just wonder how much water we used. We still have yet to try the toilet. Since we are only in it for a night we decided our maiden voyage to the Grand Canyon in 9 days will be when we initiate the red hoses. We packed up, hitched up and proceeded to drive home. Our stops along the way were gas, Camping World (to look at generators), and lunch. The biggest hurdle of the drive was up 299 which is under major construction- pilot cars on Sunday to navigate us through the 3 mile long dirt road. Once home it was parking it – backing it up into our backyard, unpacking, hooking up to power and having a cold beer within the air conditioned cloud!

Trail right by our site. Love this campground and it’s oaks!
