Heading out around 5 on Thursday for a long weekend, we drove to Woodson Bridge State Park getting all set up by 7:30. The campground had only the camp host and we had our selection of sites. This is a beautiful campground, one of our favorites with majestic oak trees. And we picked site 9 as we didn’t have to unhook. It was a gorgeous night, warm and quiet.

After breakfast and a hike to the river we headed to our favorite winery – New Clairvaux. Arriving to wine taste and purchase we then went and toured the church that is now finished. I highly recommend this place! Onward towards Auburn we drove to attend a family birthday and to moochdock. Getting together with hubby’s five of six siblings is always a joy and having to Airstream to sleep in even better.

Sunday, we headed towards Donner Lake SP and spent the two days playing on the lake driving to Martis Creek Alpine Meadow CG, and visiting Truckee. Our favorite site was open and that made it even better. The only drawback – the rock breaker starting at 8 am on Monday morning. It is quite a site next to the campground and according to the camphost has been going on all summer as they clear an area for a housing development. Need to think about visiting this area again as that density will be impacting on the already busy area. Tuesday it was getaway day and after a early morning lake visit we packed up and headed home.
